Mo 01.05.1933, Brief von Anneliese an Walter: “I have not yet become a member, but my father became one last week”
Schwelm, 1st May 1933.
My dear boy,
I have just heared [sic] on the wireless Adolf Hitler’s speech and the communications about the firework at the Tempelhofer Feld. I think you have been listening in just the same.
Thanks very much for your nice letter and your mother’s invitation. I am very sorry but I cannot stay till Monday night. I think you have forgotten that it’s my fathers’s jubilee on Monday and of course I have to be back for this very important day. If it would be suitable I could arrive sometime on Saturday but I’ll leave that to you and to your mother; I know that Saturday is always a very busy day for housewives.
Will you please be so kind and answer as soon as you can. But I shall understand if it’s impossible for you to be free on Saturday afternoon and in that case I would arrive at 901 at Bochum on Sunday morning.
Please ask your mother not to do any extra work in the way of special cooking etc. I should be much happier if I should be treated just like a member of the family which – I hope – I’ll become one day.
I still get presents and cards to honour my arrival; I think that people spoil me terribly.
I am longing to see you again and to talk to you. I often sing the nice tune of the “Echo in the Valley” song: I love you, I love you, I do! I shall be very interested to hear all about that strange man called Hugo and I wish good look to Hedwig as well as Hugo! not to forget to Karl of course. But I am quite sure you will always be and always remain the nicest of all of them!!
I shall talk with you about the N.S.D.A.P. on Sunday next, I have not yet become a member, but my father became one last week.
To-day I have written to Mrs. Baker and Mrs. Jeffery to thank them both very much for all their kindness. I miss little Christopher very much indeed, also I miss some kind of English conversation. I have not heard from the English club again. I’ll wait and see. I have not been in Elberfeld and I am not looking forward to all the visits I have to pay.
And now my dear, dear Junge, my kindest regards to your mother, brother and sister.
With love, and many kisses
Yours ever
Anneliese.

Die Führerrede im Original beeindruckt durch die gerollten Rs.
I think you have been listening in just the same. Steht das “in” im Original?
not to forget to Karl of course. Steht das “to” im Original?
I have not yet become a member, but my father became one last week.
I have not yet become a member, but my father became one last week.
Ein Beweis ist das auch noch nicht, weil ein Mitgliedsantrag und eine Mitgliedschaft nicht identisch waren. Es ist sogar gut möglich, dass er als Logenmitglied nicht in die NSDAP aufgenommen wurde.
