Do 02.03.1933, Brief von Anneliese an Walter: “I hope I shall be able to recognize you”
“Burleigh”, Hursley Road, Chandler’s Ford, Southampton
2nd March 1933.
My dear Walterjunge,
thanks so much for your letter and the photo which really is very good and I am very happy to have it now and again many, many thanks for it. Well, I hope you notice that I am answering your letter very soon because I only got it the day before yesterday. Yesterday I received your mother’s and sister’s letter and I thank them both heartily. By the way – I answered the letter which you wrote from Schwelm 4 days after I got it – is that really so very long – you know that I have a lot to do here and I really cannot write more often.
And I ask you sincerely not to think of any illness if it is not for longer than a week or even 10 days that you have to wait for an answer. I do my best and I do not think that I have ever let you wait too long. Well, enough of that. I too am always waiting for your letters and therefore I understand you so well and I am looking forward so much to next month when I shall have you again. Isn’t it marvellous? 1 month only – sometimes I think it is very long till April.
There is no definite need to write and order the rooms before but it has taken Mr. Cox a long time to find out this hotel – a nice hotel with reasonable prices in London – and I would like you to be at a nice place. If you like I can order it as soon as you know what date you will be able to arrive if not you can always find another one. About 5 shillings is a reasonable price and every police-man will tell you where to go to but still I can only recommand that little hotel near Oxford Street.
I hope I shall be able to recognize you – after such a long time and with all your nice new clothes.
Am 28. II., Deinem Examenstag, habe ich viel an Dich gedacht, wollte auch schreiben, wartete aber zu lange auf Deinen Brief und verpasste den Zeitpunkt.
