Sa 18.02.1933, Brief von Anneliese an Walter: “you’ll have to show the letter to the police at the landing”
“Burleigh”, Hursley Road, Chandler’s Ford,
Southampton, 18. II. 1933.
My dear boy!
Thank you very much for your nice letter. To tell you the truth I have been rather worried because I did not hear anything from you and I knew that there was a lot of flu about in Germany. I hope that you have quite recovered by now. I am so sorry that you have such a lot to do and Ena and I suggested that for the first week there won’t be any gardening etc. for you; you shall just live your health and do whatever you like to.
I wonder whether you have had any luck regarding the empty positions in Bad Essen and Bad Liebenwerda. I hope so much that you might be successfull one day. I am sorry that all these letters cause such a lot of work; when I am back in Germany I will write some of your Zeugnisse – I just don’t know what it is in English – on the type-writer. Do you know now which day you will arrive in London? I should like to write soon to ask for the rooms. Mother will tell Leni that we want to be on our own – I think that goes without any question – and Leni will understand, I am quite sure about it. Oh, I am so looking forward to the time when I shall see you again and have you here for such an unbelievable long time that I often think I can hardly wait till April. Do you think you could manage to find your way to the hotel? If you would arrive on Monday night I could not come to London to meet you when your train arrives because of the car but if you would come on Sunday night I should manage to be at the station so that we could come to Burleigh on Tuesday night. I have already inquired about the fare back to Germany via Paris and they will find out for me during the next days.
Mr. + Mrs. Cox send her kindest regards to you. We talk a lot about you, especially Christopher is looking forward to your visit. Do write soon and tell me whether you are quite allright again. With love and kisses
Yours ever Anneliese.
Ena will write to you before you come over and you’ll have to show the letter to the police at the landing.
