Liebe Eltern!
Schönen Dank für Eure lb. Karte. Ich freue mich herzlich, daß Ihr soviel Schönes seht! Ist das Wetter auch einigermaßen? Vaters Zeit ist ja nun wohl leider bald um; und Mutter bleibt wohl bis zum 1. 10.? Ich habe einmal wieder herrliche Tage hinter mir. Gerti und ich haben die letzten Tage noch allerhand schönes unternommen.

My dear Walter!
Thanks ever so much for your letter of the 3rd inst. I am really sorry that you had to wait such a long time for my last letter which you have surely got in the meantime. To-day I am sitting under a platana in Kew Garden and Gerti is gathering interesting flowers for her herbarium. It is awfully pretty in here and we are very lucky with the weather. There is just a big black bird sitting a yard from me and he looks very nice and clever.
